Monnières
Monnières
Monnières means mills. There are three in the district (la Minnière, la Justice, la Bidière).
Monnières also has a "communal oven" restored by the inhabitants. Dating from the nineteenth century, it was used to cook sucking pigs, for marriage feasts, and of course, bread. It was a convivial meeting place.
The church of Saint Radegonde has presided over the village centre since the eleventh century. The interior, with its stained glass windows based on the theme of the vine, is well worth a visit
At the exit by the Monnières bridge, every year (at the end of August) the village of "Pè de Sèvres" organises the "jazz sur lie" festival. And in the neighbouring district can be found the Museum of the vineyards of Nantes.
Note also - the 10 km "mill walk" commencing at Monniéres.
