Pruning

With the arrival of Decmber it is once more Pruning time right up to March. 18000 canes will thus be relieved of most of the wood produced in the previous year’s growth. Armed with secateurs we survey our vines over the Winter period. Each rootstock will have a "haircut" in the purest  Guyot Nantaise style:

  • 2 branches carrying  2 buds,
  • 1 fruit bearing cordon. Twisted round a training wire.

The wood from the pruning (the bine) is destined for our barbeques and for the Monnières Association “Sahel bines”.
